Passion is commonly something that people associate with happiness.

There is a quote flying around that is only used by the rich or the successful “Follow your passion”. I’m not saying you need to ditch your passion but, not all people are privileged to make a living out of their passion. There is this one quote from my one of my senior that resonate with the topic of this week.

“Passion Is Overrated, because not all people get the privilege to make a living out of their passion”.

There is also a second reason why sometimes passion can’t be used as a job. In the end, you may hate your passion because it became a perpetual habit that you need to do to survive.

DISCLAIMER:

This is my take on the topic, Sir. Ayank Airlangga have nothing to do with this blog. This blog is written from my experience. It may work or may not work in your life. Slight modification may be needed to use the information that you got from here because, not all problem have the same solution.

Passion Is Overrated

Yes, indeed you may be happier once you have your passion as a part of your life but, as said by one of my seniors “Not all people get the privilege to make a living out of their passion”. Yes, you may get what you want but, will you get what you need ?

People need food to survive, is just a fact. People need a place to sleep, a place to belong. All of that needs money and, most of the time passion may not fully cover all of that need. If you want to follow your passion you need to think “Have I fulfill all of my needs yet”, if yes go on then.

Wants is normal in life, people always “want more than they already have” is just the natural human nature of gluttony and greed. As a living human being we need to be calm minded, make a vision about the future that may come, the needs that may come.

The Human Need to Survive

You may think “this random person on the internet, dare to say to me to stop following my passion. I shall cancel it on Twitter” (too bad I don’t have a Twitter yet). I said you may follow your passion IF!.

We all know and can’t deny that as a human we need certain things to survive and, we need to prioritize that than our wants. You may do your passion as a side thing different than your main source of income. Because in life, you need a guarantee income to keep living.

The truth is. Living in a world of capitalism, consumerism is a must to keep on living so, money is needed. With an unsteady income a struggle to live may come.

So What Shall I Do with My Passion

I say it twice I say it again. I’m not telling you to ditch your passion, you can do your passion as a side thing and it may work or it may not.

The benefit for doing it as a side thing is, when it failed it will not hurt your main source of income.

Indeed, you may different opinions than what I have, this is all my way of thinking. This is not something that Sir. Ayank Airlangga taught to me. Is just Me as Myself.

Sincerely , The Night
